Stigma of Blessings make use of collected images, stories and writings from people about their difficulties, whether it is just a passing complication or a constant dilemma. Inspired by the philosophy of Buddhism with regards to suffering, the work aims to highlight how suffering, regardless of its scale, is a normal and inevitable part of the human condition. The personal stories collected reflect a common predicament pertaining to issues of identity and acceptance. Despite having voiced out, these concerns may never be realised and instead, more might arise. However, one must realise we are not alone in this struggle and that this vulnerability is what opens up for human relations. The idea of this need to find strength through our vulnerabilities is reflected in the use of plaster, whereby it is strong and can be used in walls or ceilings, yet brittle at the same time.
